Brad Elterman: Dog Dance

In his foreword to Dog Days, Brad Elterman's new book of photographs of the late 70s and early 80s Los Angeles punk scene, Olivier Zahm writes, "The magic of Brad's photography is that he's able to steal a picture, all while creating a natural, playful, and surprising intimacy with his subject. Los Angeles, as well as his bungalow, "Villa Le Reve," are his playgrounds, and everyone he shoots rises to the occasion: he captures Robert Plant playing soccer in his underwear, Peter Frampton sailing shirtless, Steve Jones from the Sex Pistols swimming in the photographer's own pool, Joan Jett lounging in her room at the Tropicana Motel… and of course plenty of scantily-clad girls around swimming pools and at house parties. The way he captured the world around him at this time is still a reference for modern style."
