| | | CORY REYNOLDS | DATE 4/2/2016Saturday, April 2 at 7PM, Vitra Design Museum, McNally Jackson Books and ARTBOOK | D.A.P. invite you to celebrate the publication of The Lucky, Plucky Chairs with a conversation between author and Vitra Design Museum founder Rolf Fehlbaum and celebrated artist and author Maira Kalman. Book signing to follow!
The Lucky, Plucky Chairs is a charming tale of eight old Thonet chairs who escape their doom, and are happily introduced to a larger world of iconic chairs including the Tulip Chair by Eero Saarinen, the Zig Zag chair by Gerrit Rietveld and the LCW – Lounge Wood Chair by Charles & Ray Eames, among other classics. A small selection of these chairs in miniature will be on view at McNally Jackson, and Kalman and Fehlbaum will, of course, be seated on Thonet chairs for the evening.
MAIRA KALMAN is an author and artist of numerous books for adults and children, including Ooh-la-la-Max in Love, What Pete Ate and most recently Beloved Dog. She is a frequent contributor to The New Yorker Magazine, and is represented by the Julie Saul Gallery.
ROLF FEHLBAUM is a critical figure of design entrepreneurship, the Chairman Emeritus of the Swiss furniture company Vitra, and founder of the Vitra Design Museum.
