From their press release:

The Library of Michigan has announced the list of the 2011 Michigan Notable Books - 20 books highlighting Michigan people, places and events.

The list highlights exceptional "Michigan books" published in 2010 that bring attention to Michigan authors and topics. Books that showcase the range of experiences of Michigan's citizens and life in the Great Lakes by well-established and first-time authors can be found on the list.

Detroit Disassembled by Andrew Moore (Damiani/Akron Art Museum)
Photographer Andrew Moore finds beauty in what many consider Detroit's decay. With the decline of the auto industry, sections of Detroit resemble a war zone. Moore's photographs capture the earth's/nature's recapturing of spaces that were once populated with spectacular architecture and entwined in the heartbeat of a vibrant city. Former Detroiter and Pulitzer Prize winning poet, Philip Levine, provides an introductory essay championing the unshakable spirit that makes Detroit special.
